Ride A Pet: why you cannot feed a stored pet

To feed a pet in Ride A Pet, place it on your Ranch or ride it. Keeping it stored only in the hotbar does not prepare it to receive food. Then equip the food and use the feeding interaction.

Requirements

Have a pet you want to improve and food purchased from the central Food stall. Food grants experience; it does not reroll the species that hatched from an egg.

Feeding steps

1. Choose the pet and review its name, level or experience before spending.
2. Place it on the ranch. Feeding while riding it is another documented option.
3. Open inventory and select the food.
4. Approach and interact with that pet to feed it.
5. Check the experience increase before consuming another item.

If the option does not work

First check the pet's state: selecting it in the hotbar is not enough. Also verify that you are holding food, not a radar or another item, and trying to feed the correct pet.

Do not confuse an experience increase with a guaranteed full level. The experience remaining until the next level depends on your pet's current state.
