What the Ice Axe does
The Ice Axe in 99 Nights in the Forest cuts trees and attacks enemies. Its hits apply a chilling effect that slows the struck enemy. This does not mean it immobilizes every nearby enemy or guarantees escape.
Acquisition and requirements
Search Ice Chests in the Snow Biome. Bring a Good Axe or Strong Axe first to break the ice covering the chest. You do not need the Ice Axe itself to start this route.
- Obtain a Good Axe or Strong Axe from chests or the Pelt Trader.
- Enter the snowy biome with food and a planned return route.
- Find an Ice Chest and break its ice covering.
- Open it and inspect the loot: an Ice Axe is not guaranteed in every chest.
- If one drops, pick it up and confirm you are holding that tool.
When it is useful
Editorial recommendation: consider its slow effect when you need room during a fight. Do not choose it solely by its name as a logging upgrade: its extra utility is chilling, not a promise of faster chopping than every alternative.
The wiki states that Axe Trim Kit cannot be applied to the Ice Axe. Do not reserve that resource assuming it upgrades like a regular axe.
Success check: the item is in inventory and can be equipped. This article establishes no confirmed drop percentage or announced removal date.
