Quick answer
The Strong Axe in 99 Nights in the Forest can be obtained through the Pelt Trader's fourth hand-in, associated with Bear Pelt, or as loot from Gold Chests and Legendary Chests. Trading requires progressing through his requests; chests do not guarantee the axe.
Requirements
The documented sequence is Bunny Foot → Wolf Pelt → Alpha Wolf Pelt → Bear Pelt. These are four successive requests, not a recipe you submit together at the first meeting. Save useful materials you find, but follow the trader's currently active request.
The trader route
- Find the Pelt Trader when he visits camp and read his requested item.
- Complete that hand-in and select a reward: you do not receive every menu option.
- Continue the request sequence until you reach Bear Pelt.
- At the fourth reward, choose Strong Axe if it appears among the offers.
- Confirm that you have the axe and equip it before gathering.
Offers can vary with your existing equipment. If you cannot see the axe, check your request stage and the actual menu options; do not spend another pelt assuming every hand-in offers every reward.
The exploration alternative
You can also find it in Gold or Legendary chests. That route fits an expedition you already planned, but it does not establish how many chests you will need. This guide assigns no drop percentage without primary evidence.
What changes when chopping
Strong Axe fells a normal tree in one hit; large trees take multiple hits. Do not confuse that advantage with the event Admin Axe or assume every tool serves the same purpose. As an editorial recommendation, prioritize it when chopping time is your bottleneck, not simply because its name sounds like an upgrade.
Success check and checklist: correct request, reward selected, Strong Axe equipped and result checked on a normal tree. If chopping is already quick but fuel gets wet, the next problem is protecting logs with Wood Rain Storage.
